I don’t know about you, but I for one am ALWAYS hungry. My whole life I have absolutely loved food and who wouldn’t? It’s delicious!
Food gives us the ability to keep living.

You’re Not Starving Yourself
Most diets you restrict yourself too much. You lower your calories too low, which can lead to all sorts of issues.
One, in particular, is binge eating. If you restrict yourself too much it can lead to binge eating. Which I myself have gone through countless times. Starving myself all day, eating the bare minimum, only to come home and eat pretty much everything in sight. I feel you...and I was you.
Until I found the Keto Diet. This was unlike all those other diets. I didn’t have to ridiculously lower my calories. I was able to remain satisfied because I was eating the right foods and eating enough calories.
Protein
One way it can reduce your hunger is actually because one of the main macronutrients in the diet is Protein.
It is also one of the most satisfying macro nutrients and your body has to work harder to break it down, so it’s actually burning more calories just to digest the protein you’ve eaten.
Leptin
If you haven’t heard of Leptin, it’s a hormone that sends a signal to your brain when you’re full and tells your body to stop eating.
It’s responsible to shut down hunger. So the more of this hormone that reaches your brain the more full you will feel.
Carbohydrates and sugars can shut down your Leptin receptors in the brain.
In turn it then takes longer for your brain to tell you that you’re getting full. So that’s when you’re likely to overeat.
Ketones
When you start a Keto way of eating your body starts to produce Ketones. There have been studies that show that Ketones suppress your appetite.
Eating healthy fats, keeps you fuller for longer. Compared to carbohydrates, they are more satisfying for hunger.
Cravings
Some people honestly struggle with this one.
A lot of people would say cravings are one of the WORST things to deal with on any diet.
Especially in the beginning, this is when you will find them the hardest and you will probably give in at one point or another….and that is okay.
That is absolutely okay. You know why? It’s because no one is perfect. And if you do give in, you need to tell yourself that, that is okay. And you have to get back up on that horse and try again. You can’t let a little set back put you off track from your goal.

The sneaky thing about sugar is that the taste of sugar releases endorphins that calm and relax us, giving us a “natural high” as some would say.
But that is the good thing about Keto. You can’t have it.
In order for it to work, you simply can not have it.
Some people find going cold turkey is easiest for them. Straight away cut out the enemy and never look back. For some of us, it’s a lot harder. Especially in the first 72 hours.
But the first 72 hours is when you really have to try to not give into them. Cravings will never leave if you ALWAYS give in to them. So it’s very important in these early stages to really try to overcome them. But in time your tastebuds will change and become satisfied with a lot less.
Once you break that sugar addiction you will discover your cravings become less and less. You will find that even the things that weren’t sweet to you before, you can’t tolerate now because they are TOO sweet. So by sticking with The Keto Diet and not allowing yourself those sugary foods, you will break that cycle of cravings.
Another way to help with cravings whilst on The Keto Diet is to make sure you’re eating fats and protein at every meal.
Also, keep an eye on your stress. Stress can affect your Cortisol levels which then increases your cravings for sugary foods.
Just a quick side note, make sure you’re staying hydrated. Dehydration can mimic hunger. Some people can’t pick the difference. So make sure you’re drinking enough water throughout your day and also getting enough fiber. You want to get the most out of this way of eating and get your body working to its full potential and to the best of its ability.
